Coach Eduardo Novaes
Eduardo Novaes
5th Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
Originally from Santos, Brazil, Eduardo Novaes is a 4-time SΓ£o Paulo State Champion with over 25 years on the mats, and one of the most experienced black belts teaching in the Pacific.
Heβs taught internationally across Brazil, Europe, and Asia, including at Evolve MMA in Singapore alongside athletes like Teco Shinzato, Alex Silva, and Michelle Nicolini. He now lives and teaches in Fiji.
Eduardo is known for his technical precision, calm approach, and focus on intelligent Jiu-Jitsu β helping students refine timing, control, and efficiency rather than just collect techniques.
Across the week, sessions are structured so everything builds β giving you time to understand, apply, and actually improve.
a Typical day in Fiji
No two days are exactly the same β the rhythm of the retreat follows the conditions. The schedule stays flexible to make the most of training, recovery, and for those who want time in the ocean.
You can expect a balance of focused BJJ training, optional surf sessions, and time to rest, explore, and recharge.
A typical day might look like:
β Morning movement β optional surf or yoga
β Group breakfast
β Late morning BJJ session β technical work and rolling
β Long lunch and downtime
β Afternoon BJJ session or optional surf
β Evening mobility, yoga, or recovery
β Dinner with the group
Everything is designed to flow naturally β prioritising good training, leaving space to recover, and giving you the option to surf when the conditions are right.
This is for you ifβ¦
You train regularly and want to keep improving without burning out
Youβve been feeling a bit stuck or flat in your training
You want a proper break β but still want to train while youβre away
Youβre over rushed holidays and want something that actually feels worth it
You like the idea of training hard, then switching off completely
Youβll wake up near the ocean, train with a clear focus, and then have time to actually switch off between sessions.
Some days youβll surf. Other days youβll train light and take it slow.
Training builds across the week, but thereβs no rush β everything has space around it.
By the end of it, youβll feel like youβve trained properly, switched off properly, and reset properly.
